On February 11, 2025, the City Council of the City of Stafford and the Board of Trustees of Stafford Municipal School District unanimously approved a bond election to be held in the District on May 3, 2025.  The bond package was recommended to the District by a Long Range Planning Group composed of citizens of Stafford who met over a period of several months to evaluate the District’s current facilities and to make suggestions for capital improvements. The bond projects described below are based upon the committee’s recommendations.

  • What is a school bond?

    A school bond is like a loan taken out by the school district to pay for major improvements. Voters approve the bond, and the district repays the loan with interest over time using property taxes.

    Why is a school bond needed?

    The district would use bond funding for lifecycle improvements, renovations, repairs, transportation, and technology improvements that is not covered by the regular budget, including:

    • Renovations and improvements for every campus
    • Lifecycle improvements, fencing, and repairs
    • Bus and fleet repair and replacement
    • Athletic improvements
    • Technology improvements and upgrades

    How much is the bond for?

    The 2025 Bond has a proposed amount of $150 million, divided into the following propositions:

    • Proposition A - $113,350,000M: Facilities & Renovations
    • Proposition B - $5,200,000M: Reimbursement Resolution
    • Proposition C - $21,400,000M: Athletic Improvements
    • Proposition D - $10,000,000M: Technology

    How will the bond money be used?

    The specific projects and their costs are detailed on this bond website. Click the link for each proposal to see details for each project. Funds cannot be used for salaries or operating expenses.

    Who can vote on the bond?

    Registered voters residing within the Stafford Municipal School District boundaries are eligible to vote.
